12 Days of Giving - Day 12

Welcome to the final day of our 12 Days of Giving!  I certainly enjoyed creating and sharing these resources with you!

My final freebie is a fun Nonsense Word Fluency Game that my students adore!  Again, I make every attempt to make learning fun and engaging for my students.  One of the best ways to do this is through games.  We all know that kids learn naturally through play, so why not create more opportunities for play in the classroom.

Nonsense word fluency measures a student's ability to decode individual phonemes and then blend them together to read. This ability to decode and blend is an indicator of a student's progress in acquiring early alphabetic principle skills.

I havea variety of Nonsense Word Fluency and Sight Word games that all follow the same format.  They're played like "Uno" and "Go Fish".  I teach my students how to play these games during the first months of school.   After students are familiar with how to play the game, I put these out for parent volunteers to play with small groups of students. Eventually, I put these games out for my early finishers!  The students love playing the games in pairs or small groups!

Try this freebie!

If you are interested in more themed Nonsense Word Fluency Games, check these out or search my store by category, "Nonsense Word Fluency."

12 Days of Giveaways - Day 8

Welcome back to my blog and Day 8 of the 12 Days of Giveaways!  Today's freebie has a back story.  This resource developed over the need to comply with the expectations of administration and my own feelings about instilling a love of reading in my students.  For all the details, look back at this post!

But suffice it to say, these independent reading logs allow your students to record their reading independently...no need to stress out the parents.  It also makes recording reading minutes fun!  I want everything that has to do with reading to be FUN!  (Not a chore!)

I hope you enjoy this freebie!  If you find it helpful for your students, please check out my other themed reading logs!

The 12 Days of Giving Day 6

Day 6
Welcome back and thanks for hopping over to the blog!  I hope you and your students are enjoying the daily freebies!

Today's freebie is a Gingerbread themed Color by Code Addition Worksheet! Now, I'm not a huge worksheet fan!  However, kids do enjoy coloring and it's so good for their fine motor development! I started creating these for my students last year!  I created worksheets for reinforcing math strategies that we were learning at the time.  My students enjoyed discovering what the completed picture would look like.  So then I got the bright idea to make Color by Code worksheets for sight word reinforcement, also!

My students LOVE color by code worksheets!  Seriously!  They get so disappointed when I don't put one in our math tubs or word work!  Click on the picture above to download your freebie!

I hope your students will enjoy this freebie!

You may want to check out the resources below so your students can have fun while practicing skills during the crazy days before the holiday break!
