Texas, Paris and Vegas! Oh my!

Susan has been in Texas the last couple of weeks, and I have been in Paris!  That's right, Paris, France!  What an amazing trip!  I saw more museums than I ever thought possible.  I walked more miles than I thought I ever would, and figured out the confusing metro map too!  My Eccos took me everywhere I needed and wanted to go!

You can read all about my adventures in Paris on my blog eccosinparis.blogspot.com

Now on to the next big adventure - Vegas baby!

Susan and I are so excited to be going to the I Teach First! conference in Vegas! It's just a week away and we are ready for some fun! Our great friend and co-first grade teacher, Renee Dooly from fantasticfirstgradefroggies.com will be coming along too, so we are sure to have a great time!  We've got great sessions lined up at the conference, and big plans to have tons of grown up fun in the evenings!

Eccos in Vegas!  Here we come!

Texas Travels!

I'm a Summer Reader...love reading during the summer, but during the year I can only fit in a few minutes each night before I fall asleep!  So I haven't even started reading the new Daily 5 book!  And you know what?  That's ok!  Because I finally read The Fault in our Stars!  It was sooooo great! My daughter has been bugging me to read this book for months.   I can't wait to go see the movie now...although I'm taking a box of kleenex with me!  I finished the book last night in our hotel.  When I finished, I went and woke my daughter up and gave her a hug.  She totally understood!

Okay, dry the eyes....on to something happy now.  We just got back from our overnight trip to Louisiana!  My girls all wanted to see where PaPa lived when he was a kid.  So we hopped on I10 and headed East! A few hours later we ended up in New Iberia, LA!  We took a tour of an old plantation home and had a blast...truly, it was so fun.
The Shadows - New Iberia, LA

Look at that beautiful tree!  I love the Spanish Moss!

Then off to check in at our hotel and get some dinner.  We ate in Broussard at the "Hook and Boil"!  (Don't ya love that name?)

My dad and his crawfish!

We all enjoyed some yummy shrimp and crawfish etouffe.

It's Summer!

Happy Summer!  I have definitely been absent from the blogging world and enjoying my first few days of summer!  I'm trying to give this poor little neglected blog some attention.

First up I'm participating in a giveaway to help A Teacher Mom celebrate her birthday!

There are so many amazing teachers participating in this giveaway!  You'll definitely want to enter to win the goodies!  Click the image above to enter!

Second, I just ran across this great bood study!  I just finished my first year using the Daily 5 in my classroom and LOVED it!  There were definitely bumps along the way, but the benefits were fantastic!  My students were READERS this year!  They could sit and E.N.J.O.Y reading and ASKED to have free reading time!  So when I found out about the second edition of the Daily 5, I actually gasped a little!  :)  I ran (okay drove) to Barnes and Nobel, bought an iced tea at the cafe, and found this book!  Now, I'm following along, and backtracking a bit, with this Book Study!  If you're interested in joining, click below!

I'll be back soon to post some of my thoughts and reflections!
