SURPRISE and a GIVEAWAY!!!

I started blogging a little over 2 years ago!  During that time, I've met so many bloggers and have made some great friends from all over the country and the world!  Well, over the past couple of months we've been working and creating a brand new collaborative blog...and it's launching tomorrow!

ClassroomTestedResources is a collaborative blog of 30 elementary school teachers!  Our goal with this blog is to share new teaching ideas and resources every day!  I'm so excited to be working along side these amazing teachers and bloggers!  I know I'll be learning so much from each of them!

Now, I'm sure you want to know a little more about the GIVEAWAY!  To kick-start our blog we are giving away...not ONE...not TWO...but THREE  Teacher Swag Bags!  These Teacher Swag Bags are filled with some teacher must haves!  Take a look at this picture:

Do you see all of those goodies?  Scented markers, Sharpies, erasable pens, THE BEST PENCIL SHARPENER ever and much more....all valued at $100!  Remember, it's not just one bag...it's THREE!

So what are you waiting for...head over to the new blog and enter the GIVEAWAY!

Number Club!

After music today, the kids returned to the classroom only to find caution tape all over the door.

When they entered I revealed that we would be building numbers and... building numbers we did!

The kids are using beans and popsicle sticks to physically build numbers on a place value mat. When we have ten beans in the ones place, we glue them to a stick and move it to the tens place. Well, we had quite a few kiddos who made it way past ten today!

The kids were so excited to build numbers today, we got a little carried away and worked on it all through the Daily 5 time...their choice! The goal is to build our numbers to 120...we have several kiddos who are far beyond! I love the enthusiasm and also the "lightbulbs" that are going on! It's amazing how even though some of the students can write the numbers and solve equations using the numbers, it is still a struggle to build the numbers. This is a great activity to reinforce this skill!

My grade level team teacher, Renee Dooly, created this resource to use with this activity!

If you are looking for a way to reinforce place value, try out this product!

And don't forget to enter my Giveaway!

Read Across America!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!  This is one of my favorite days with the kids!  I can't wait to post pictures from tomorrow!  If you're still looking for some fun activities for tomorrow, these are my favorites I've got ready for the big day...and the month!  Why limit ourseleves to one day?
This is free in my store and a great way to incorporate a little math into the celebration!

Of course there will be plenty of reading games, too!  My kids love playing NWF games and this is going to be a great surprise for them!

And this is my newest product!  I'll be using this week for morning work and then in tubs next week for my littles that still need to practice sentence structure!

I hope you find something that works for you and will help you out this month!  Stay tuned for celebration this month!  It's not just Dr. Seuss' birthday, it's mine!  Woohoo!
